Trust Building Activities for Team Development

Building trust is important for any business. When it comes to your staff, the concept of trust-building needs to be emphasized as much as possible. Achieve this goal with the following trust-building strategies.

Minefield

The goal here is for teammates or co-workers to guide one another through an obstacle course. The team pairs up into twos. One person is blindfolded and the other one guides them through the obstacle course with a series of verbal directions and prompts.

Cooking

This can be done with a local class that’s taken together as a group or on-site at the workplace. The concept here is simple. Cooking is a great activity that helps build bonds by encouraging collaboration to make some great-tasting dishes.

Amazing Race

The popular TV show is a great way to build team trust. Create your version by coming up with a series of challenges. The first team to complete all the challenges successfully wins. Even for teams that don’t win, the togetherness required to get everything done is beneficial for everyone.

Egg Drop

The goal here is to use office supplies to build a landing pad for a raw egg. It’s also a trust-building exercise since you have to trust other teammates to use proper supplies or come up with effective ideas.

Scavenger Hunt

The idea here is to find as many objects as possible on a list of items within a certain time frame. The good thing about a scavenger hunt is that it can be done for both on-site and remote or work-from-home employees. If remote employees are included, be sure the list includes items that can be found in the general areas where remote employees work.

Team Drawing

With this trust-building strategy, everyone is divided into groups of two. They will be seated back-to-back. The object here is for one team member with an image in front of them to describe the image in detail so the other team member can draw it on a piece of paper or canvas.

There’s no time like the present to get started with strategies that work best for you and your team. Contact Team Building Unlimited to learn more about team building and trust-building along with business coaching and other services we offer.
